Manufacturing Day, or MFG Day, is an initiative of the Manufacturing Institute (MI) that strives to inspire the next generation, positively shift perceptions about the industry, and build the foundation for the manufacturing workforce of the future.
Held annually on the first Friday in October with events that continue throughout the month, MFG Day helps show the reality and future of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, educators and community leaders. This year, more than 400 events are planned.
“Manufacturers will need to fill 4 million jobs by the end of the decade. MFG Day 2023 is our chance to build excitement and bring the possibilities and rewards of a career in modern manufacturing to more students and people nationwide. The Manufacturing Institute will continue to build and execute programs to solve current and future workforce challenges and collaborate with manufacturers across the country to equip the next generation of manufacturing leaders," said Carolyn Lee, president and executive director of the Manufacturing Institute, the workforce development and education affiliate of the NAM.
